The Purchasing Agent hired by American Commercial Barge Line LLC will work closely with the various operating groups and supply base to ensure that the business needs of the Transportation Services group are met:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of a centralize/center-led sourcing approach in order to achieve both departmental and corporate goals and objectives
- Direct involvement with suppliers and service providers to procure components and services while ensuring lowest total cost of ownership, continuity of supply, supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, cost reduction, etc.)
- Identify and develop preferred suppliers; establish rates, contracts, supply agreements, etc.
- Assist in the creation of Requests for Proposal (REP) as well as the selection and final award of business
- Identify opportunities to leverage service volumes between the various operating groups to reduce costs and improve performance
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
B.S. degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred
Years of Experience
5-10 years of experience in purchasing and inventory management in manufacturing or transportation environment
