Red River Rains
* 3"-4" of rain is expected in the upper reaches of the uncontrolled areas.
* This not expected to result in a major rise, just a bump.
* All polls are within 1' of pool stage.
NOTE: Tows are encouraged to report any shallow areas, especially at Lock approaches.
Red River Dredge
Dredge Allison Crosby is in Houma waiting on the NTP. First Assignment is Lock 5.
Ouachita/Black Dredge
Dredge Dubuque is awaiting Dry Dock.
Dredge Integrity is waiting for the NTP on the harbors.
Red River Lock 1: Attached is a news release from Vicksburg District on the Lock 1 maintenance.
They plan on starting on 15 August and open for traffic on 16 September for 15 days.
Industry needs to plan for this opening to get tows up and out during that time.
Old River Lock: The plan is to close to traffic on 15 August for 90 days.
There will no passing of traffic during this time - tows would have to use
Atchafalaya River to access the Red River.
NEW CLOSURE: IT IS POSSIBLE that parts for a new crane will arrive at Old River Lock by barge the end of June.
When these barges arrive they will be in the lock to be off loaded.
When that happens the lock will be closed to traffic during the day and open during the night to pass traffic.
We are in communication with Old River Lock as they know definite dates to pass on to industry.
