RIAC UMR Winter Lock Closures JAN2023

Lock 27 and Mel Price are both now double locking using their auxiliary chambers. As of 1000 this morning there is one 9 barge tow waiting to lock up at Mel Price and none at lock 27.

Mel Price’s main chamber is tentatively closed until about 31MAR, Lock 27’s  until 15MAR

Other UMR closures scheduled this winter:

Lock 21 will be closed to all navigation 12 Jan 23 – 02 Mar 23    Lock landwall horizontal concrete and kevel rail replacement and lock vertical joint repairs. Currently a 70 foot wide restriction here.

Lock 22 will be closed to all navigation 13 Jan 23 – 02 Mar 23    - Lock upper guidewall horizontal concrete and kevel rail replacement. Currently a 70 foot wide restriction here.

Lock 24 will be closed for 45 days, from 12 January through 26 February 2023. The Lock chamber will be dewatered as part of routine regional inspection program and miter gates will be repaired from recent barge accidents.

Lock 25 will be closed for 45 days, from 12 January through 26 February 2023. Repairs will be made to the lower guidewall cribbing.
