ERB is accepting applications for a Sales Trainee (Cape Girardeau, MO)


This Sales Trainee Program is a 12-24 month program during which time the individual will be required to successfully complete many tasks covering all facets of the Construction and Forestry equipment sales industry.  The program goal is to develop trainees with the knowledge, skills, and experience required for a position as a Territory Sales Representative.  Upon completion of the program, candidates will be qualified and eligible for a Sales Representative position within Erb Equipment Company Territory

Job Function:

Working conditions may vary from well-lit office environment to outside conditions that may include high noise levels and/or extreme outdoor temperatures.  Must be able to sit for up to 75% of the workday.  May occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Valid Driver’s License in good standing is required.  This job may require long days, flexible hours and some weekends.  Some travel is required.

Job Essential Duties:

  • Will spend between 2-6 months training in the following departments:  Sales Administration, Rental Sales, Compact Equipment Sales, Used Equipment Sales, Industrial Sales, and Work-Sight Technology Solutions.
  • Meet monthly with the Sales Manager or designee to review progress and performance.
  • Will be evaluated on specific assignments, objectives, study assignments, and standard company performance criterion as outlined on the Erb Equipment Co. Performance Review document.
  • Sales Trainees rated below 80% will receive a review of status as a member of the Sales Training Program will be undertaken by the President of Sales and the Sales Manager.
  • Will perform as a fully functioning employee of the Sales Department and will be governed by the policies and procedures of that department.
  • Complete required John Deere product training learning paths.
Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and can communicate and present in person, in writing, and on the telephone effectively with both large and small groups.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills with ability to satisfactorily resolve customer concerns.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agribusiness, Marketing, Communications, or a similarly related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
