Scheduled Old River Lock Closure

Due to delays in completing the installation of the New Gantry Crane at Old River Lock, we will resume completing the repairs to the Old River Lock Emergency Bulkhead Lowering Carriage Machinery. Based on the contractors scheduled the work will commence on 10 July 2023 and be completed by 31 August 2023.

Based on the current scheduled, Old River Lock will be scheduled to be closed to navigation 31 July – 3 August 2023 to perform the pre-tensioning procedure on the newly installed wire ropes. Old River Lock will also be scheduled to be closed to navigation on 14-17 and 21-24 August 2023 to perform the actual function test of the newly installed Emergency Bulkhead Lowering Carriage Machinery. Navigation can also anticipate some short temporary periodic 1-4 hours delays during daylight hours only during the entire period of 10 July – 31 August 2023 (Note: These delays will be held to a minimum.)
