Job Summary

Hiring Range: $58,448.00 - $81,307.20/Year D.O.Q.

This position, under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, is responsible for the management of all physical security systems and Security IT staff.  Responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, maintaining and supporting all physical security systems including cameras, radar systems, fiber optic network, security surveillance, vessel traffic information system and access control.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage the stability and maintenance of the Port's physical security systems
  • Manage IT staff who are responsible for physical security systems
  • Develop systematic approach to solve physical security operation issues and demands
  • Manage the design and implementation of all physical security related projects
  • Manage contractors and other Port departments to keep projects moving forward
  • Coordinate resources as needed
  • Maintain control of all hardware warranties for assigned equipment and maintains accurate inventories of equipment
  • Review hardware and software capabilities for physical security systems and makes upgrade recommendations as required
  • Review, analyze, and create detailed documentation of physical security systems, including workflow, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify processes and procedures
  • Ensure physical security systems are developed according to high standards and that customers receive excellent service and support
  • Provides training and test equipment resources to the Security IT staff
  • Manages repair, upgrade, and upkeep of assigned equipment
  • Assists Director of IT in creating the capital and expense IT budget
  • Adheres to Port policy and maintains good employee relations
  • Tier 2 status designation
  • CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should have excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written, be a self-starter capable of independent work and self-creative teamwork. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor's degree in technology field or equivalent education and work experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
  • Valid driver's license

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Ten or more years of progressive IT experience and physical security systems
  • Proven ability to manage video surveillance systems and access control
  • Experience analyzing and improving security and technical processes
  • Preferred experience with marine radars and vessel traffic systems
  • Experience in security process re-engineering, process optimization and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills
  • Five years of experience in design, implementation and programming physical security systems
  • Experience with networks including fiber optics
  • Proven ability in PC software/hardware, communications and network
  • Must be able to work on call or a rotating basis after regular working hours
  • Use of motor vehicles, mechanical and electrical equipment

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to, sitting, speaking, hearing, hand & finger movements, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 60 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to reach video and communications equipment installed at communication towers, high posts up to 250 feet high and installed in equipment racks
  • Ability to work in a general office environment, with some exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock is present.  Moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts are present
  • Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment
  • Ability to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
