Job Description

We’re looking for a professional who has significant experience working directly with stakeholders to produce business value. In addition to deep knowledge of business analysis and quality assurance best practices, we want someone with exceptional leadership and business acumen.

Ingram Barge Company is looking for an experienced Senior Business & Quality Assurance Analyst to join the IS department at our Nashville, TN location. In this role, you will communicate with stakeholders across the organization in order to convert business needs into detailed specifications. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all needs are captured, documented, and tested to ensure solutions delivered by the IS department represent the needs of the business and function as expected.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Elicit and document business requirements from subject matter experts
  • Document functional and non-functional requirements
  • Partner with developers (internal and external) to ensure they understand requirements and can deliver a system that meets those requirements
  • Interpret requirements into appropriate test scripts for all types of testing
  • Manage test environments to ensure builds are promoted from development to test and then to production shares/libraries. Delete or move unneeded builds
  • Establish quality-related policies and procedures
  • Conduct or coordinate all types of application testing such as system, unit regression, integration, performance and acceptance testing methods as needed
  • Log all defects and provide testing status on all projects that have been released to QA
  • Analyze test results to discover, report, and track resolution of defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws
  • In order to create appropriate test scripts, analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application to determine its intended functionality
  • Establish application testing and promotion practices
  • Communicate test progress, test results and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management
  • Work with development team leads to ensure quality initiatives and development standards are being followed
  • Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications

Minimum Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field required; Master’s preferred
  • Certified Software test Professional (ISTQB) or Certified Business Analyst (IIBA) preferred
  • At least 5 – 7 years of experience in moderately complex environments with emphasis on systems related or quality assurance responsibilities
  • Experience with automated testing tools (scripting, etc.) and standard office tools (e.g. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong understanding of the business and application of business rules to automated systems for purposes of validation
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in translating business requirements into technical specifications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good organization and problem solving skills with the ability to understand cause and effect relationships
  • Team focus with the ability to lead groups and facilitate meetings
  • Working knowledge of best practices for effective Business Analysis (BABOK) preferred
  • SQL experience preferred
