Shannon & Wilson is accepting applications for a Senior Hydraulic Civil Engineer (Seattle, WA)

Responsibilities Include

  • Perform field assessments, stream and fluvial characterization, data collection and sampling of sediment, streamflow and water quality.
  • Manage technical field and engineering analysis and design tasks.
  • Perform engineering analyses and calculations.
  • Perform hydrologic, hydraulic and sediment analyses and modeling.
  • Write field assessment, hydrologic and hydraulic assessment and design technical reports.
  • Develop channel, pond, levee, bank protection, scour protection, grade control, fish passage, habitat log jam structure, culvert, floodplain mapping, bridge and tidegate hydraulic designs.
  • Develop and stamp plans and specifications.
  • Provide construction technical support to clients.
  • Interact and communicate with clients and staff.
  • Follow Shannon & Wilsons Quality Assurance policy.
  • Follow and promote Shannon & Wilsons Health & Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • BS. degree Civil/Hydraulic Engineering (or equivalent work experience), supported by B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 14+ years experience in areas noted below
  • Professional Engineering P.E. license in the state of work.
  • Working backgrounds in one or more of the following areas: open channel hydraulics and environmental river mechanics, sediment transport, fluvial and coastal geomorphology, coastal hydraulics, hydraulic structures, hydrology, civil design, project and construction management, survey, AutoCAD, Microstation and GIS experience.
  • Hydrologic modeling experience with HEC-1, HEC-HMS, GSSHA, HSPF, TR-55, TR-21, FFEQ, and SBUH and WMS.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS2D, and HEC-GeoRAS (minimum), other coastal and stormwater models a plus.
  • Self starter, creative individual with client service focus desired

Level Placement

Typically, depending on an applicants education, experience, other qualifications they possess, if they are a fit for the company and local office culture, and the current business needs, a Senior-Level Hydraulic Engineer typically would be placed at a Shannon & Wilson Associate or Senior Associate level.
