MSU Paducah has released the following BNM in congruence with the Ohio River Ice committee (ICE):
ALL MARINERS ARE ADVISED BEGINNING 14 SEPTEMBER 2023, ALL VESSELS TRANSITING THE OHIO RIVER BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 975 AND 972 MUST BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN AN AVERAGE UPBOUND SPEED OF THREE MILES PER HOUR. VESSELS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THREE MILES PER HOURS WILL REQUIRE ASSISTANCE. ONE WAY TRAFFIC CONTINUES FROM MILE 967 TO 975, THE PREFERRED TRANSIT TIMES FOR THIS AREA IS DAY TIME FOR DOWN BOUND TRAFFIC AND NIGHT TIME FOR UPBOUND TRAFFIC. MARINERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CHECK INTO THE OLMSTED LOCK AND DAM EARLY TO BE PLACED IN THE QUEUE.
//Broadcast until canceled//
Please be aware beginning 17SEP23 dredging ops at MM 974 will cause extra delays, batching traffic passing upbound into groups of 3 and downbound into groups of 6. We will update this BNM on 16SEP23. Please let me know if you have any questions.
