The Port of Pittsburgh Partners with OpenTug to connect shippers with terminals

PITTSBURGH, PA– March 5, 2024– OpenTug, a leading provider of marine transportation logistics software, is thrilled to unveil its latest collaboration with the Port of Pittsburgh Commission. This strategic partnership aims to grow commerce along the Pittsburgh region’s three rivers by helping shippers connect digitally with terminals, storage facilities, and transportation service providers.

With OpenTug, shippers gain a direct connection to stakeholders, including terminals, warehouses, and transload facilities. Facilities get an instant digital presence and tools to grow their business.

OpenTug’s Port solution includes a full-service customer portal that provides Terminals with:

  • Discovery portal to help shippers, terminals and providers connect
  • Online transportation & transload referrals
  • Interactive connectivity map to the Port of Pittsburgh
  • Visibility into lock statues and queues along the river connections
  • A cargo management & scheduling module
  • In-app quoting, payment, digital contracts and DocuSign

With the OpenTug license, appropriately named The PortPitt Connect Portal, tenants can market their capabilities, receive requests from potential customers, and offer services directly from the platform. This partnership comes pursuant to OpenTug’s emergence on the marine transportation and logistics scene as the first digital booking platform for inland marine logistics in the fall of 2022.

Set-up is easy and attainable for Terminals looking to maximize success with the digital platform. Simply add capabilities, create an account, and instantly receive more bookings. All terminals within the Port of Pittsburgh enjoy free, unrestricted access to the tenant portal providing optimal visibility, functionality, and a premium customer experience.

"We are thrilled to embark on this strategic partnership with the Port of Pittsburgh," said Jason Aristides, Founder and CEO at OpenTug. "Our cutting-edge digital platform will empower logistics professionals to forge stronger connections, gain deeper insights, and navigate the Port's services with unparalleled efficiency.
