Upper Mississippi River Lock 19 Update

BLUF – Lock 19 will not open today.

There are issues with the controls and hydraulics that control the lower miter gates.  Currently the lower miter gates will not fully close and there is periodic surging of the hydraulics that open/close the gates.  They continue to trouble shoot but have no projection for opening.  If they find an opportunity to  safely cycle/test the pit, they may attempt to lock a boat during that cycle…but no guarantee.

Will update as we know more.
