Wire Pulling Operations-Calcasieu River

All mariners are advised of wire pulling operations near Mile Marker 24 on the Calcasieu River between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM from May 31, 2023 to June 11, 2023.

The Coast Guard will be establishing a temporary safety zone to protect all personnel and vessels transiting the area within a 1500-foot radius of the wire pulling operations located at 30°06'35.4"N, 93°19'59.4"W, as pictured below.

Transiting through the zone is prohibited between the hours of 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on May 31 and June 1, with a potential for a third day on June 2. The four-hour closures can be verified daily via Broadcast Notice to Mariners on VHF-FM marine channel 16.

Mariners are to transit the area at the slowest safe speed all other times.

Two safety boats and two Calcasieu Sheriff boats will be on-scene to direct traffic and all vessels transiting through the area should follow instructions from the Sherriff boats on-scene. The contractors on-scene will be monitoring VHF channel 13. For more information, contact the onsite project manager at (601)-594-6816, (601)-209-7954 or (601)-594-7294.
